10 Things to Watch Out for When Traveling in Cameron Highlands
1. Beware of Traffic Police Trap in Brinchang
There’s often a police trap in front of the Petronas Petrol Station in Brinchang. It’s there to catch illegal U-turns at the junction between Cameron Centrum Mall and the Brinchang Police Station. If you’re there on weekdays, be careful and don’t make illegal U-turns.

2.Beware of the Quality and Size of Strawberries and Corn
When buying strawberries and corn at the Morning or Night Markets in Cameron Highlands, be aware that some vendors mix different quality produce and sell them at a promotional price.
For strawberries, better quality ones are placed on top of lower quality ones in the box.

For corn, vendors may show you one good ear of corn among many, but the rest might not be as good. Check everything before you buy.

3. Know about the Quality and Pricing
Strawberries: For the best quality and price, visit during the low season. During the peak season, prices can be more than double. Agro Markets usually have better quality and prices.
Corn: There are three types of corn: normal (yellow), pearl (mix of white and light yellow), and milky (white). Quality ranges from AAA, AA, to A, and prices vary by size and quality. Some corn is grown in Ipoh, not Cameron Highlands. To check quality, test one ear on the spot and make sure all you buy are the same.

4.Beware of Low Quality of Strawberry Chocolate
At night markets, you’ll see strawberries dipped in chocolate. Some vendors mix the chocolate with water, making it less flavorful. Good quality chocolate is kept boiling, while poor quality chocolate is left unboiled.

5.Avoid Traffic Jam in Cameron Highlands
Less Traffic: Monday to Thursday, from 12 AM to 10 AM.
Heavy Traffic: Friday to Sunday, from 11 AM to 3 PM. Plan your trip to avoid traffic jams.
If you are travelling to Cameron Highlands for the weekend trip , the best suggested time to depart from ipoh is 6-8am Friday.

6.White Strawberry not that Nice
Cameron Highlands has both red and white strawberries. White strawberries, which are from a Japanese breed but grown locally, are five times more expensive than red ones. After trying both, we think the local red strawberries are sweeter and softer.

7.Self Pick Strawberry is just for fun not worth it
At strawberry farms, you can pick your own for about RM30, though there are some limitations. The quality might not be as good as in the market, but it’s a fun experience with loved ones.

8.Traffic Police Speed Trap from Simpang Pulai to Cameron Highlands
Be cautious of speed traps when traveling from Simpang Pulai to Cameron Highlands. The speed limit is 60 km/h, and fines range from RM150 to RM300.
9 Beware of Many Flies During Hot Season
From April to June, there are many flies in Cameron Highlands due to the ideal temperature for their reproduction. You’ll see them especially in restaurants.
